Table Topics Master (TTM)

Hi everyone, it’s me, your amazing and annoying VPE Hamzah once again :D

Your role as Table Topics Master is to manage the Table Topics segment to help train members quickly organize and express their thoughts in an impromptu setting.

In this segment, you are encouraged to create your own topics with a mix of easy and hard questions. If possible, do follow the theme of the chapter meeting too.

The Structure

Being a table topics master is simply one of the easiest segments ever as you have a segment just for yourself. Just follow the structure and you’ll do fine (you just need to create the content):

And now for the most exciting session, Table Topics!

Provide overview of what Table Topics is (for guests)

For the guests who are not familiar with this, Table Topics is a segment whereby we get people to come up on stage, pick a random topic and speak about it freely, based on his/her interpretation.

This is one of the most excellent ways for speakers to think on their feet!

Introduce Timing Sequence

The timing sequence for each table topic contestant is as follows:

  • At the 1 min mark, green card will be shown by the timer
  • 1 min 30 s, amber card will be shown
  • 2 min, red light will be shown.
  • Contestant has 30 sec to wrap up till the background turns purple!

Introduce list of topics

  • Up to your imagination!
  • Can use powerpoint slides, numbers, etc
  • Topics can be a word, a phrase, a question or whatsoever.
  • If it is a themed chapter meeting, best is to create topics based on the theme.
  • Create at least around 9-10 topics.
  • Take note: if it’s beyond time, check with President or VPE if we can have time for more contestants to apply
